The NAB Northwest is made up of pastors and churches who hold to the biblical conviction that to be a disciple is to make disciples who make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20; 2 Timothy 2:2; 1 Thessalonians 1:2-10). Our hope is that as we go from town to town, state to state, and nation to nation proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ, we will be training up leaders who will, in every place the gospel bears fruit, raise up disciples who in turn go and make disciples to the Glory of God. This conviction has led us to partner together with others who share this conviction and start Cascade School of Theology. CASCADE SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY Mission:To Strengthen the Local Church by making disciples of Jesus and equipping the saints.
Core Conviction:We believe theological training belongs in the local church. Cascade School of Theology is a collective of churches and organizations seeking to make accredited Evangelical Christian education and biblical training available to as many men and women in our churches as possible. As a confessional institution it is our joy to train students in the context of our Christ-centered, biblically-based, theological distinctives. Our Partnerships:Cascade School of Theologyis a partnership between the North American Baptist Northwest region churches and Sioux Falls Seminary.
Our Students:Cascade School of Theology exists to help the local church make disciples of Jesus, equip saints, and train pastors in the Pacific Northwest. Our passion is to help churches prepare their members for ministry.
Two crucial components: 1) Students are placed in a church within the network of participating churches to develop a close mentoring relationship with the pastors, elders and the church. This relationship is designed to devote students to prayer, the Word, and hands-on ministry experiences appropriate to their calling. 2) Students engage in a rigorous academic curriculum worked out in community with other pastors, elders, students, their church and seminary faculty mentor. Thus this program is not a chiefly academic enterprise with supervised ministry as a peripheral requirement or option. Church-centered training, mentored service and learning in a local church are the very heart of the program.
We envision that graduates of the program will plant churches, minister in local churches, serve congregations desiring revitalization, or go off to foreign countries and plant churches and disciple people in a cross-cultural context.
